Children had lots of fun in Exeter’s Princesshay on Saturday (6 June) as they baked muffins in a free charity cookery workshop.
After donning chef’s hats and aprons they got stuck in, a shaking and a baking, making new friends and listening to the crazy instructions from head chef Joe Mann who runs Fun Kitchens.
Joe was working in partnership with local charity Hospiscare to promote the Big Devon Bake Off, September 12-20, when people are encouraged to bake cakes, invite friends and family around for a bit of a do and put out a donation bowl. A simple fun way of raising...
Boris, the stray cat who made his home at the Exeter hospice, is today enjoying a taste of family life – he’s been adopted by a Hospiscare nurse!
The ginger Tom used to climb through open windows at Hospiscare’s Dryden Road centre and it was only when nurses noticed he was losing weight that they decided to take him to the vets to find his owner.
A scan revealed Boris was chipped but unfortunately his owner was unable to take him back.
An internal appeal to staff to find him a permanent home resulted in a queue of Hospsicare nurses wanting him! Ruth Wills was first...
Bring your children along to Exeter’s Princesshay on Saturday (6 June) between 10am and 3pm for some fabulous free foodie fun in the kitchen.

A total of 1,351 crazily dressed runners raced through Exeter’s city streets on Saturday night causing quite a stir!
They were taking part in Exeter’s first ever neon night run and raised tens of thousands of pounds for local end of life charity Hospiscare.
“Our runners were amazing!“said Celia Wilkilnson, Hospiscare fundraiser. “They looked great, with funky neon facepaints and lots of neon racing gear - I’ve never seen so many tutus! Everyone was in a great party mood and we are so grateful to our wonderful runners for supporting us and the University of Exeter for...
Hospiscare hairdresser Lesley Weeks received lots of hugs and kisses as she retired after 23 years of amazing service for the local end of life charity.
A party was held at the Hospiscare day centre in Dryden Road, Exeter, to celebrate her “fantastic contribution” to Hospiscare – staff and volunteers came along to thank Lesley for her support, friendship and to say goodbye.
Lesley joined as a volunteer, was recruited as a member of staff and ironically says she will return as a volunteer – she just loves collecting Hospiscare name badges! Dr Jim Gilbert, Hospiscare medical...

A moggy mystery has unfolded at Hospiscare’s Exeter hospice – a stray ginger cat, who staff have nicked named Boris, regularly pops into to see nurses and patients.
Boris jumps in through open windows or ambles through open patio doors and is a regular sight in the offices and ward.
He enjoys cuddles from cat loving Hospiscare nurses and patients and sometimes snuggles up on staff chairs in the ward office but there are concerns that he might get locked in the numerous different rooms at the Dryden Road building. Also, Boris has recently lost weight.

Despite being very poorly Mary was determined her 62nd birthday party would go ahead and treated her friends to dinner at a luxury country house hotel near Torquay.
They arrived in two limousines, with one collecting Mary from the Hospiscare...
A limousine picked up birthday girl Mary Mills from Hospiscare’s Exeter hospice to enjoy a “fantastic” night out with her girlfriends.

“Every single second of that night gave me a lift,” she said. “All my girlfriends gave me a big cheer and sang Happy Birthday to me and there was a massive...
