Lady Elizabeth Butler-Sloss hosted a charity summer tea party on Sunday (14 June) at beautiful East Devon mansion house, Nutwell Court.

The Georgian neo-classical Grade 2 listed mansion house which sits on the east bank of the River Exe estuary at Lympstone, has extensive grounds and gardens and is the private home of Carole Lee.

Guests were greeted by Lady Butler-Sloss, who is a vice-president of local charity Hospiscare, Mrs Lee and Glynis Atherton, Hospiscare chief executive.

The Isca String Quarter entertained guests during the afternoon which raised £2,523 for the charity which covers Exeter, East and Mid Devon.

During the afternoon Lady Butler-Sloss received a £10,000 cheque from Roger Dawe, from the Normans Family Trust, for the Hospiscare Exeter hospice.

She thanked Mr Dawe for the generous donation and Mrs Lee for her hospitality and said she was very proud to be a vice president of Hospiscare, which has achieved some great successes in the last year, including opening the new £1.2m Kings House Day Hospice in Honiton, allowing patients and families living with terminal illnesses to be cared for much closer to home in East Devon.

After some bubbly and an elegant afternoon tea guests enjoyed the grounds.
