Tim Harlow, Hospiscare consultant said: “Hospiscare’s recognises that there is much to be done and we would like to do more locally.

Cheers! Walkers taking part in Hospiscare's FUGBY12 men's walk were rewarded with a much needed pint and a pasty.

Main sponsor Roger Wilkinson, of Wilkinson Grant, gave a stirring speech sending hundreds of walkers on their way from St James Park Football club, through the player's tunnel and around the pitch, before heading over to Mincinglake Valley Park and back to twatch the rugby where they enjoyed pints and pasties courtesy of St Austell Brewery and Chunk Pies. Thanks also to Exeter FC for its support.

Hospiscare has received another mystery donation – this time £1,020 was left outside its flagship store in Exeter’s Fore Street.

The money was left in a large bag, containing a purple quilt, just by the front door a few minutes before staff arrived to open up in the morning.

Last Christmas Hospiscare, Exeter’s local end of life charity, celebrated receiving £3,450 after cash was left in two carrier bags outside its Cowick Street shop and just last month Hospiscare received another mystery donation of £140 in notes, this time through the post, to the same store.

A South West charity is set to get a boost of £10,000 thanks to a regional property developer.

Devon-based Devonshire Homes has adopted Hospiscare as its charity of the year, and has pledged to raise the cash through a range of initiatives.

Hospiscare provides care and support for patients and their families living with a terminal illness and has centres in Exeter, Mid Devon and East Devon. All of its services are free and the charity needs to raise over £5m each year to continue to care for the 2000 patients who use its services.
