Acclaimed artist unveils new collection in Exeter

The works of an engineer turned professional artist who creates enchanting paintings inspired by the English countryside will be on display at an Exeter gallery this month.

Acclaimed painter Paul Corfield presented his charming new collection of land and seascapes at Castle Fine Art on Cathedral Yard on Saturday 25th July. The exhibition will be available to view for two weeks until Sunday 9th August.

Spacex crowdfunding success

Spacex, Exeter’s contemporary visual arts organisation, has successfully raised £10,000 to support its new artists residency programme.

Hundreds of people have donated money to the campaign, and in return will receive artworks, posters and publications.

Mark Waugh Chair of Spacex said: "We are thrilled by the enormous response to our crowdfunding campaign, which shows that the public wants to support the dynamic evolution of Spacex as it explores new ways to fund original and challenging visual arts in Exeter.

Suspicious packages picture gallery

There were dramatic scene in Exeter city centre today after two suspicious packages were found in separate locations.

The first package was found in York Road, near Sidwell Street.

A second suspect package has been found at the King William Street Car Park in Exeter City Centre at around 9.15am today.

Exeter Daily reader Sam Richards captured the developments.

Spacex Kickstarter goes live

Spacex, Exeter’s acclaimed contemporary visual art organisation, is at a challenging yet exciting point in its forty year history.

After temporary closure in response to funding cuts, the organisation has transformed the way it works.

In place of being a gallery with a rolling programme of exhibitions Spacex now produces projects in collaboration with a wide range of partners.

Arts and community folk from across South Devon are being invited to come along to the Pavilions Teignmouth Open House event on Saturday 28 March. The free event is being held at The Riviera Bar Cafe, Teignmouth from 1-3.30pm.

Work started on Pavilions Teignmouth last month. The multi-million pound community, arts and development centre, being built by Teignbridge Council, is due to open in Spring 2016. The centre will be run by a charitable trust.
