Landowners and communities in Devon are being reminded they have just over five weeks left to apply for this year’s free tree scheme .

Devon County Council is offering up to 50 free tree packs, each containing 45 native broadleaved trees and other items to support their planting and establishment.

Stagecoach SW confirm details of free travel weekends in Exeter

Stagecoach South West have confirmed details on the upcoming days of free bus travel within the Exeter Plus travel zone.

Following the recent decision of the Traffic Commissioner, bus journeys will be free over the weekends of Saturday the 10th and Sunday 11th of December and Saturday the 17th and Sunday 18th of December 2022. Customers will not require a ticket for travel in this area on these dates.

Free school meals holiday vouchers doubled for Christmas

Families in Devon on low-incomes, whose children receive free school meals, will get extra support this Christmas to help them buy food during the holidays.

Over the past Devon County Council has provided supermarket vouchers worth £15 per child per week of the school holidays to families who qualify for free school meals, so their children don’t go hungry.

Fifty Devon businesses have the chance to join trading standard’s Made in Devon scheme with their first year of membership free.

Consumers need to be confident that they are buying genuinely Devon sourced products, which in turn is a selling point and source of pride for businesses.

The Exeter branch of RGB Building Supplies is offering excess wood to the local community and groups for free.

Families in Devon are being urged to check if their children are eligible for free school meals as the coronavirus crisis creates more hardship across the county.

Nationally applications for Universal Credit have gone up dramatically with initial estimates of an extra 10,000 claims in Devon in the last two weeks of March.

Learn to Play Day - a free national event to encourage everyone in the UK to start making music - is coming to Devon this March.
