Artistry grows with age
The creative talents of Exeter’s older women artists will be on full display this summer as Crowshow 25 returns to Positive Light on Sidwell Street for its fourth annual exhibition. Running from Saturday, August 16 to Saturday, August 30, the free exhibition is open daily to the public from 10am to 4pm.
Organised by CROW (Creative Older Women), the exhibition celebrates the bold, diverse, and thought-provoking work of women artists aged 50 and above. This year’s show features work from 30 members, with a wide range of paintings, sculptures, textiles, printmaking, and mixed media pieces on display.
Now a staple of Exeter’s cultural calendar, Crowshow continues to highlight the powerful role older women play in the city’s creative landscape. “Crowshow 25 demonstrates the boundless creativity of both established and emerging artists in and around Exeter,” said CROW member Sue Lewis. “We are proud to provide a platform for these talented individuals to share their work.”
The exhibition kicks off with a special opening night on Friday, August 15 from 6pm to 8pm, where guests will have the chance to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments in a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere.
With its ever-growing membership, CROW offers a vibrant network of support and inspiration for older women artists across the Exeter area. Their annual exhibition not only showcases talent but also challenges outdated stereotypes around age, creativity, and artistic relevance.
Crowshow 25 promises to be a celebration of resilience, imagination, and community spirit, offering something for art lovers of all ages.
