WESC hosts Exeter Chamber's summer networking lunch

WESC Foundation (WESC) played host to Exeter Chamber of Commerce’s June networking lunch, with 70 local businesses and professionals in attendance.

WESC is a school and college for young people and adults aged 5-25, and a specialist centre for visual impairment, based on Topsham Road, Exeter. Pre-lunch, guests were offered an optional tour of the facilities at the 14-acre campus to meet learners; find out more about the charity and the important work and services they provide.

Diners treated to culinary masterclass

Diners were treated to another culinary masterclass as Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines MBE joined forces with Sandy Park Head Chef Denis Turner for a mouth-watering Gourmet Evening at Sandy Park.

Held in aid of the official Exeter Chiefs’ Charity, the Exeter Foundation, the evening raised a staggering £3,750 and once again highlighted the work of the charity to the assembled guests.

Exeter Foundation Gourmet Evening returns

Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines MBE will once again be teaming up with Sandy Park’s Head Chef Denis Turner in the Sandy Park kitchen in March, for the second Gourmet Evening in aid of the Exeter Foundation.

Michael Caines and Denis Turner previously paired up in March 2015, raising nearly £3000 for the Exeter Foundation. The event, taking place on March 10th 2016, will include an especially devised seasonal five-course menu prepared by the two chefs on the night with complementary wines. Nominations open for Devon Sports Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the prestigious Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards, which will take place at the home of the Exeter Chiefs, Sandy Park, on 13th May 2016.

The awards, which are held in association with Active Devon and in partnership with Exeter College, celebrate the best in sport throughout Devon, with all funds going to the Exeter Foundation.

Organisers of the event are keen to celebrate a wide cross-section of sport from community to elite level and there has been a reorganisation of the categories from previous years to reflect this.

Christmas e-cards support WESC Foundation

WESC Foundation is seeking the support of greeting card consumers in the South West in the run up to Christmas as part of a new fundraising initiative.

The centre for visual impairment has partnered with Exeter-based DontSendMeACard.com to offer a range of e-cards that support WESC. The website offers users the ability to send e-cards in replacement of greeting cards and to donate how much they would have spent on sending cards.

People are being invited to give the cost of cards to WESC and contribute towards visual aid equipment that will greatly assist young people with...

Pie & pint quiz night raises £790 for Exeter Foundation

Lloyd Barnes Accountancy Recruitment staged a Charity Quiz Night at Exeter Golf & Country Club, on 7th October, raising over £790 to their nominated charity, The Exeter Foundation.

This annual quiz night was attended by over 120 finance and accounting professionals from businesses across Devon including: Flybe, Coastal Recycling, EDF, Foot Anstey, Thrifty, Cobell and Maximus.

Hotel donates TVs to Foundation charities

A popular Exeter hotel has donated television sets to a charity fundraising body, after undergoing a major refurbishment.

The Mercure Exeter Southgate underwent a £2.5m re-furbishment earlier this year. The hotel donated 20 television sets, which were previously in rooms, to the Exeter Foundation.

As a fundraising body, the Exeter Foundation offered the televisions to its member charities on a first come first served basis. The televisions were snapped up within 2 hours by a number of different charities.

Nominations for the prestigious Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards are now open.

Active Devon and Exeter Foundation, who jointly stage and promote the event, are expecting this year’s event to be more popular than ever.

Foundation contribute to new WESC van

Celebrity Chef Michael Caines and other trustees of the Exeter Foundation have proudly handed over the keys to a new van to WESC Foundation – the Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment located on Topsham road in Exeter but covering the West of England.

The van, which the Exeter Foundation have helped fund, has been specially adapted for those with visual impairment and complex needs and can be used to transport students individually.
