Winners of esteemed Food Drink Devon Awards announced

Devon is truly magnificent. At last night’s annual Food Drink Devon Awards the pinnacle of the county’s food and drink producers, hospitality businesses and speciality retailers celebrated in fantastic style at the Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club. The ceremony was hosted, for the fourth year running, by food and drink broadcaster Nigel Barden.

There was fierce competition in the ‘Taste of Devon Producer Awards’. In the coveted ‘Best Producer’ Award, Hanlons Brewery was announced the winner with Otter Vale Products claiming the ‘Best Brand’ Award.

With an estimated three million children at risk of being hungry during the school holidays in the UK this summer, and as food bank usage is reportedly hitting record highs, Broadclyst Community Garden has joined a nationwide initiative to grow and donate fresh fruit and vegetables to those in need. Taste of the West’s New Food Village arrives in Exmouth

From Thai-inspired ice cream, to locally-bred pork, the new food village at the Queen’s Drive Space on Exmouth sea front is proving a huge hit with locals and visitors alike.

The new attraction, which is being run by Taste of the West, has already attracted hundreds of visitors, keen to sample some of the tastiest produce from the region, in its first month of operation.

It is based at the Queen’s Drive Space area, which is also home to a new Jurassic-themed play park and outdoor event space, and is open until September.

Food Drink Devon is delighted to announce that this year their prestigious award ceremony will be held on Monday 8th October 2018 at Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club, Umberleigh, North Devon and will be hosted by legendary broadcaster Nigel Barden.

Devon-based barbecue restaurant have launched a vegan menu in response to customers’ increasingly health-conscious food choices. The team, who also own an organic charcuterie company, are keen to promote meat-alternatives in a bid to encourage less but better-quality meat consumption.
