Devon Food Poverty charity needs your vote

Devon & Cornwall Food Association rescues good quality food from being destroyed and redistributes it to local charities and other organisations which support vulnerable people in our communities.

This environmental community project (which works in Exeter, Plymouth and Cornwall) has been chosen for the South West region for a People's Millions award but your help is now sought to secure the funding. A public vote on the 26 November will decide which project wins this year’s cash and your votes are needed.

Local charity The Devon and Cornwall Food Association has been shortlisted as the potential recipient of up to £50,000 of People’s Millions Lottery Funding – an opportunity that will enable them to expand the vital work they do to redistribute in-date food that would otherwise be sent to landfill. Their project, Devon and Cornwall Food Action, is one of two projects chosen for the South West region but your help is now sought to secure the funding. Investment is on the menu for historic Exeter building and restaurant

A local Exeter restaurant, Harry’s on Longbrook Street, has secured its future through a mortgage from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking after its leasehold was due to expire.

Owner, Samantha Pounds, approached the bank when the owners of the building declared their intention to sell the property and the restaurant’s future was put into question.

With the additional support of £150,000 from the Regional Growth Fund, Samantha was also able to secure future employment opportunities for the local area.
