Hospital patients try different foods during Nutrition and Hydration Week 2016

PATIENTS at North Devon District Hospital and community hospitals were given an opportunity to try different foods as part of Nutrition and Hydration Week 2016.

The global awareness campaign – from Monday 14 March to Sunday 20 March – aimed to highlight the importance of nutrition and hydration in improving the safety and outcomes of patients.

The Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust ran different menu themes on each weekday:

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo, are helping visitors and local people to improve their diets.

NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, is urging owners to put certain foods on the ‘naughty list’ for their dogs this year. Christmas is well known as a time of excess for humans but, according to the insurer, pet dogs are also prone to eating too much during the festive period and sometimes, what they choose to eat could have serious health implications and end-up in an emergency visit to the vet.
