Record crowds at Dartmoor Folk Festival PICS

Record crowds enjoyed three days of music, song, dance and crafts at the 37th Dartmoor Folk Festival held from August 8 to 10.

Local and national artists entertained audiences at the event held at South Zeal, near Okehampton.

The festival included concerts, dances, a Dartmoor Fayre, a ceilidh, folk service, craft displays, music hall, pub sessions, a ramble on Dartmoor and music, song and dance workshops.

The packed programme of events also included a dedicated children’s festival.

Hotly-contested competitions included the Dartmoor Broom Dance championships...

The annual Acoustica Festival is back again this year and it’s bigger than ever! From 12th-14th September the festival is taking over the city playing at venues around the city including The Phoenix Arts Centre, The Bike Shed Theatre and The Old Firehouse.

The festival will showcase genres such as Alt Folk, Folktronica and Americana which are the roots of Folk music. Students from the Academy of Music will perform also.

On the 11th September at the Globe Inn, Newtown, there will be a warm up event for the festival from 8pm which is FREE!

Box office opens for literary festival

Tickets go on sale on Monday 28 July for the sixth annual Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival, taking place Thursday 18th – Sunday 21st September.

The festival, which attracts international interest, has grown year upon year and attracts some of the nation’s top authors.

New wine and music festival announced

Tickets are selling fast for the Devon Wine and Music Festival with Exeter singer/songwriter Adam Isaac headlining the September event.

As well as local bands playing there will be dozens of Devon wines to taste from six vineyards and great food from local suppliers and local crafts.
