Music, food and crafts at family festival

Tickets to a new family friendly music festival in East Devon are selling fast.

The Altitude Village Festival, which takes place in Blackborough on the weekend of May 20 and 21, will see performances by high profile local and regional bands, including Sound of the Sirens, Bristol reggae band Talisman and Mark Morriss of The Bluetones.

As well as music, there will be children’s entertainment, crafts, and a huge range of street food and drink. The event is being held to raise funds for local charities, including Blackborough Village Hall.

Afternoon of racing at Newton Abbot

Spend an afternoon at the races this Easter break at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Tuesday 5 April.

Why not treat the family? Children aged 16 and under plus students with a valid student ID / NUS card enjoy free entry!

There is also a brand new children’s play area for this season, open at every fixture. Gates open at 11:50 and the first race is at 13:50. The last race is at 17:15.

Tickets can be bought at the racecourse’s online ticket store until 17:00 on Monday 4 April.

The Exeter Book: Family Fun

Wednesday 6th April 2016, 12.30-15.30 (Pearson Education Centre) Come and see the amazing Exeter Book which has survived for over 1000 years!

Drop in to the Library & Archives to see this amazing collection of Anglo-Saxon poems.

While you’re there – meet the archivist and ask her what parchment is made of (it’s rather disgusting….).

Afterwards, come over to our Education Space and take part in our Anglo-Saxon themed activities.

Make a shield or a brooch to take home, and see if you can work out the riddles of the Exeter Book.
