Treble at Newton Abbot for Hill and Haddon

Littlehempston trainer Martin Hill and jockey Hadden Frost had an afternoon to remember at Newton Abbot on Sunday, landing three races, including the feature with the popular mare Detroit Red.

With the holiday season getting into full swing, there was a bumper crowd to cheer the nine runners on their way in the Class 3 Happy 18th Birthday Scott Butler Handicap Hurdle. A joint initiative between Devon Carers and Recoverylink CIC, You First is a peer-support buddying scheme that matches people who are struggling to cope with caring for a family member, relative or friend with drink or drug problems with someone who has experienced similar circumstances but found the resilience to manage their own lives successfully despite the difficulties.

New homes needed for children waiting to be adopted

Thirty three children in Devon are currently waiting to be adopted, if adopters were available, says Devon County Council as it launches a campaign to encourage more prospective adopters.

Devon County Council's Devon Adoption service has children ranging in ages from six months to eight years, including sibling groups, waiting for a loving, safe, permanent home.

The service has, this year, cut the length of time it takes to approve adoption applications in a move to make the process simpler, and to encourage more adoptive parents to come forward.

Andy Clark-Coates established the services with his wife Zoe after the couple lost five children themselves. Andy said: "We have had amazing attendances at services with people who have lost babies last week and last month, sitting next to peoplewho lost 60 years...

Relaxed Performances: "The opposite of the quiet carriage on a train"

If you have a family member or care for someone who makes involuntary noise, is likely to talk a lot, needs to move around, or gets disturbed by sudden loud noises you may think that going to the theatre isn’t for you. After all, theatres are usually seen as places where you need to keep quiet and sit still during a performance. A Relaxed Performance may be the answer, making it possible for you to have an enjoyable trip to the theatre without fear that other audience members will complain and make the experience potentially awkward and stressful.
