Man seriously injured in M5 crash

A serious collision closed the M5 North and Southbound at junction 28, Cullompton, and junction 29, Exeter.

Police were called just after 9am today (Wednesday 21 September) to the incident on the M5 at Cullompton.

A lorry, which was travelling on the M5 Northbound, has collided with the central reservation.

Two other vehicles have been involved.

An air ambulance was called and landed on the carriageway to assist with casualties.

Family donate funds to ICU in memory of mum

The Chappell family, from Exmouth, have raised over £15,000 to help patients on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in memory of mum Jacquie.

Jacquie, 55, spent several months being cared for on the ICU at Exeter before sadly passing away from heart failure in December 2014.

Dumped dog found with ‘excruciating’ ear infection

RSPCA inspectors are investigating after a dog was found dumped with a severely infected ear in Exeter.

The dog warden collected Trixie, who is thought to be a Staffie Sharpei cross, who was left tied up outside the One Stop Shop on Topsham Road. They contacted the RSPCA after she was found to be suffering from a skin condition and a really bad ear infection on September 4.

Trixie is now being treated at an RSPCA centre for her infection and investigations are underway into what happened to her. It is hoped she will make a full recovery and eventually be rehomed.

Local firms receive Business Promotion Grant to reach new audiences

A group of 10 Devon businesses have been awarded funding to help them reach new audiences.

The latest round of Devon County Council’s Business Promotion Grant has been announced – providing up to £1,000 to cover exhibiting costs of attending trade shows or events.

The grant scheme, which is organised through the County Council’s Devon Delivers programme, aims to enable businesses to gain valuable exposure at high-profile industry events across the country, promoting them to national and international audiences.

Deliveroo, the on-demand delivery service for high-quality restaurant meals, is celebrating its first birthday in Exeter.
