Michelmores LLP has added to its Real Estate team, with the appointment of two new Partners.

Chris Hoar joins the Firm as Head of Construction and Engineering, while Stephen McColgan joins Michlemores' Real Estate team specialising in land acquisition. The pair bring a collective five decades of experience in the real estate sector between them.

Chris brings over two decades of expertise in advising clients on construction, engineering and other infrastructure projects across the supply chain both nationally and internationally. In addition to his transactional work, he has very strong experience in all types of construction and engineering dispute resolution. Particular highlights during the course of his career has been work undertaken on the construction and development of the new Hong Kong International Airport and a number of major disputes on World Bank funded road projects in Central Europe.

He trained and previously worked at Allen & Overy LLP in London before spending 11 years at niche construction and engineering firm Shadbolt & Co LLP, where he was made partner and latterly Head of Contentious Construction. He comes to Michelmores from Foot Anstey LLP where he was formerly a partner and Head of Construction.

Joining from Davies and Partners’, where he was Head of Land, Stephen McColgan was responsible for overseeing strategic land and property deals acting on behalf of a number of FTSE100 PLC clients. He has acted for a number of the top ten house builders and specialises in dealing with complex strategic land assembly, and the property issues within consortiums and joint venture projects. He also acts for private developers and property investors.

Paul Paling, Head of London Real Estate at Michelmores, commented: “The appointment of a further two Partners to the Real Estate team reflects the continued growth of our  practice, as we expand to meet the needs of an ever-increasing number of large, specialist instructions in this area. Chris and Stephen are significant hires, adding valuable knowledge and niche skillsets to our existing teams and we are delighted to welcome them both.”
