Police are investigating a burglary which took place at a property in Newton Abbot where precious military medals were taken.
The incident happened between 5:10am and 6.30am on Tuesday 20 September at a home in Queensway.
The offenders gained entry through a small upstairs window and stole eight military medals in bronze, silver and gold [pictured] which are of huge personal value to the home owner.
They include campaign medals achieved from the owner’s former military service in the former Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Northern Ireland, the 2nd Gulf War and Afghanistan....

Zero tolerance to hate crime is the strong message at the core of the new anti-hate crime campaign being launched across Devon during this year’s national hate crime awareness week, which runs from 8th to 15th October.
The message is loud and clear: all forms of hate crime are completely unacceptable and will be dealt with robustly. Together with Devon & Cornwall Police, partner agencies and community leaders across Devon are working to prevent hate crime, support victims and deal with the perpetrators in the most appropriate manner.

Devon history has been enriched by Dr Gray who is unrivalled in his knowledge of the county, having published 45 books about Devon. In 2014 he was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List for voluntary services to Devon heritage.

Plans for the multi-million pound redevelopment of Exeter bus station have been approved by councillors. At a special meeting on Wednesday evening members of Exeter City Council’s planning committee backed applications to create a state-of-the art new leisure complex and a new bus station at the site. Both schemes are being funded by the city council. Work is expected to begin next spring and the new developments are expected to open in the winter of 2018. Devon County Council is committing more than £100,000 to its Community Road Warden scheme as it extends the roll-out of the initiative.
As part of a pilot in five parishes and towns across Devon earlier this year, trained volunteers repaired almost 200 minor potholes. The County Council supplied Road Wardens in Bradford and Cookbury, Broadclyst, Clyst Hydon, Plymtree, and Sidmouth, with a simple-to-use pothole repair material, Instarmac, to patch up small potholes in their parishes and towns.

Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) has reached the finals of the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia-Friendly Awards 2016.
The museum is one of three finalists in the Dementia Partnership of the Year in recognition of its work with Devon Partnership NHS Trust’s Franklyn Hospital.
The partnership has raised staff awareness and skill levels and generated new museum activities for people living with dementia.
