Residents at Millbrook retirement village, in Exeter, which is owned by later living operator Inspired Villages, dressed in their finery and enjoyed a garden afternoon tea to celebrate The Queen’s 95th Birthday on 21st April.

Residents made the most of the sunny weather and enjoyed a ‘socially distanced’ afternoon tea of coronation chicken, smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber finger sandwiches. The family of a Devon man, who worked as a fireman on steam trains and as a BT engineer, is appealing to his former colleagues for answers about how he was exposed to asbestos, which caused his death.

Antony Talbot, who was born in Exwick and lived in Exeter, died aged 88 in October last year, one month after he was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a terminal asbestos-related lung cancer.

South West RNLI crews issue Mayday after figures show a busy 2020

The RNLI in the South West has today released its annual rescue figures which show that despite much of the year spent under lockdown restrictions, the regions volunteer lifeboat crews were as busy as ever and launched on average four times a day.
