Over two consecutive nights (21st - 22nd October, 6.15 pm - 10.15 pm) a large, hand-drawn animation of a Devon carer and her son will be projected onto the Exeter Phoenix Building as part of a collaborative project to celebrate the millions of unpaid carers who work around the clock looking after their friends and family at home. Research shows their role has been made even harder by the closure of support services during the COVID crisis.

Rise of Raducanu set to inspire a new tennis generation in Exeter

The rise of the teenage tennis sensation Emma Raducanu may inspire youngsters in Exeter to pick up a racket and take advantage of the city’s free tennis facilities.

That’s the hope of Exeter City Council’s Lead Councillor for Leisure & Physical Activity, Cllr Duncan Wood, who believes the new British Number One’s incredible run in the US Open will serve as an inspiration to those starting out or considering taking up tennis.

Hospitals across Devon are working together to address the significant challenges they are facing with rising demand for care across routine, urgent and emergency services.

Along with the rest of the NHS, Devon is seeing an increase in patients admitted to hospital with Covid-19 which means there are fewer beds available for other patients. The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) has today announced ten projects that are in the running to receive the RTPI South West Awards for Planning Excellence 2021.

The awards highlight exceptional examples of how planning and planners have a positive impact on our quality of life in creating exceptional places and protecting our environment.
