Comply or Die at Exeter's Super Sunday fixture

Former Grand National winner Comply or Die, who famously cost William Hill bookmakers more than £7million when he won the world’s most famous race in 2008, is the guest retired racehorse at Exeter’s Bathwick Tyres Super Sunday meeting this weekend, February 9.

Jump racing’s superstar retired safe and sound in 2011 to Timmy Murphy’s Cilldara Stud in Gloucestershire having won eight races and £798,809 in prize money.

Flybe turnaround shows early sucess

Exeter airline Flybe will cut around 50 fewer jobs than initially expected as their business turnaround shows early signs of success.

The airline had initially proposed cutting 500 jobs as part of its turnaround plan revealed last November, but now says current cuts will be closer to 450.

Much of these savings have been made by cutting several unprofitable routes to remove the operating costs of the routes such as fuel and staff wages.

However this has incurred one off grounding costs of £14 million this year with a further one off costs of £26 milllion next year....

Police appeal to find Dawlish holiday park robbery suspect

Police are appealing for help in finding a man suspected of being involved in the robbery of a Dawlish holiday park last summer.

Dean Smart (pictured) is wanted in connection with a robbery at Golden Sands Holiday Park in Dawlish Warren in the early hours of 27 August.

Three other men have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. They remain on remand in prison, awaiting trial.

Smart, 27, who is from the Bath area, is considered dangerous, and police believe he is actively evading capture.

South West tenants get worst value for money

Tenants in the South West of England feel they get the worst value for money from their rent than in other parts of the UK, according to a recent poll by the UK Association of Letting Agents (UKALA).

Just over half (57%) of tenants in the region rated their rent as ‘good’ or ‘very good’ when asked their opinion on whether it represented value for money. However, a third (33%) perceived their rent as ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’.

In comparison, the findings also show that tenants in Yorkshire and Humber derive the best value for money from their rent, with four in five (83%)...

New golf facility at University of Exeter

Plans to construct a new short game practice golf area at the Sports Park on Streatham campus, have been unveiled by University of Exeter Sport.

Making use of the vacant space behind the University’s covered tennis courts; the 50m x 30m area will house two contoured, all-weather artificial greens and an eco-bunker.
