PM criticises 'unfair' BBC decision

The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has become the latest public figure to criticise the BBC over its dismissal of a Veteran DJ for broadcasting a song containing racist language.

Commenting on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, David Cameron said that the BBC had acted “unfairly” in its treatment of the BBC Radio Devon DJ David Lowe who was dismissed after broadcasting a 1932 recording of ‘The Sun Has Got His Hat On’.

Police name Exeter manslaughter victim

A 27-year-old man who died following an assault on Saturday night has been named by Police as Exeter man Joseph Wake.

Earlier today two men from Exeter were charged with manslaughter in connection to Mr Wake's death

Craig Melhuish, aged 38, and Colin Smith, aged 34, have both been charged with manslaughter and were due to appear at Exeter Magistrates Court this morning (12 May).

Two others a 34 year-old woman from Exeter and a 41 year-old man, also from Exeter have both been released on police bail until August.

Christmas comes early in Axminster!

East Devon District Council has listened to traders in Axminster and is proposing to launch a special car parking rate in all its pay and display car parks in the town – starting this month.

Baxter's joy as Cowan-Dickie agrees deal

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight after highly-rated forward Luke Cowan-Dickie today put pen to paper on a new contract with the Aviva Premiership club.

The 20-year-old’s new deal – which is a two-year extension to his current contract – will keep him at Sandy Park until at least the summer of 2017 and is another clear indicator that Baxter is willing to back the club’s crop of promising youngsters to deliver on the big stage.

Exeter among bottom ten places to pass your MoT

Broken down by region, detailed MoT data reveals that Exeter is among the bottom ten places for MoT passes with a 53 per cent pass rate. The most common reasons for failure were lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment (23.6 per cent of failures), followed by suspension (17.5 per cent of failures) and brakes (14.4 per cent of failures). Thousands of people have gathered in Exeter today for what is thought to be Exeter's largest ever Pride event

Exeter Pride 2014 promised to be the biggest, most colourful event to date with more than 2,000 people thought to have taken part in the parade down Exeter's High Street before attending a full programme of activities held at Exeter Phoenix in Gandy Street.
