Jess Targets Big Finish

Exeter Chiefs may face an uphill struggle in their battle to reach the top six of the Aviva Premiership, but winger Matt Jess has not given up hope of the Devon club achieving their seasonal aim.

Saturday’s narrow 14-13 loss at home against Gloucester saw Rob Baxter's side slip to ninth in the current standings, some 14 points adrift of former champions Harlequins in sixth.

With just four fixtures remaining for the Devon club - including home dates with both Sale Sharks and Harlequins who sit above them - Jess has not written off his side’s chances of muscling their way...

Exeter hosts 1,000 children for the Devon Winter School Games

The Sports Park on the University of Exeter campus has today played host to over 1,000 primary school children from across the county taking part in the Devon Winter School Games.

Young people from across Devon will today get the chance to compete in a range of sports including netball, rugby, volleyball and hockey as well as the opportunity for young people with pan-disabilities to take part in boccia & goalball events. Casitas return to Devon for homecoming gig

Devon’s own success story ‘Casitas’ are back in Devon for a homecoming gig on Friday 18th April at the Tobacco Factory in Exeter.

Casitas, consisting of Barney, James, Ed, Felix and Jack, are returning to Devon after uprooting to London to further their music career.

Originally from Exeter, they will perform at the Tobacco Factory in the city on Friday 18th April at 7pm.

As well as their Exeter performance the group, who were recently featured on Dermot O’Leary’s Radio Two show, are also set to perform a live session for BBC Introducing in Devon on Saturday 19th...

Shocking Video of Honiton Robbery

Officers investigating a robbery in Honiton have released CCTV footage of a man they are urgently trying to trace. This distressing footage shows the moment the man entered the antique shop at around 9am on Saturday 22 March and grabbed the female staff member from behind. Exeter Finish Line for Tour of Britain 2014

The Devon stage of the Tour 2014 will start in Exmouth and take the long way round to Exeter. Annnounced at a national launch event in London yesterday evening (Monday 31 March) tour organisers SweetSpot Group and hosts Devon County Council announced that which returns to the county for another year on Thursday September 11.

The start and finish venues are a reversal of the 2011 Devon Stage, when Britain’s Mark Cavendish led out his teammate Mark Renshaw for a memorable victory on Exmouth seafront.

Alzheimer’s Society is this week launching brand new resources aimed at helping even more businesses and organisations to become dementia friendly.

A video which charts a day in the life of someone living with dementia and the challenges they face doing everyday tasks, such as going to the bank or shops, and aims to help people in customer facing roles understand how they can best support someone with dementia when they meet them.

Alphington and Cowick start street light switch off

Around 1,000 streetlights in residential streets in Alphington and Cowick will be converted to part-night lighting tonight. Exeter street lights previously on all-night will be switched off from about 12:30am to 5:30am, before coming on again until dawn. Lighting on the main roads and busiest routes, including Alphington Road, Buddle Lane, Cowick Lane, Dunsford Road, Church Road (Alphington), Alphinbrook Road, Hennock Road Central and Bad Homburg Way will remain unchanged, operating all night.
