School Bus Crash leaves Driver in Hospital

A woman suffered serious injuries after a road traffic collision involving a school minibus and a van in Holsworthy yesterday afternoon. (25 March)

None of the 15 Children on the minibus, from Holsworthy Community College, received any serious injuries in the crash.

A statement on the schools' website says "pupils suffered minor injuries and shock and were given first aid in school." but "No pupils have suffered serious injury."

The two vehicles collided at the crossroad at around 3.45pm, both vehicles left road and came to rest in a property adjacent to the road...

Sign Language Week is Social Media Triumph

With the backing of local radio, businesses, and celebrities such as Caroline Quentin, with over 100 videos created, the British Sign Language Celebration (BSL) Week campaign, run by Exeter Deaf Academy, SignUp BSL and Deafinite Interpreters has been a great success. The campaign hoped to get as many people as possible filming themselves signing their name and the organisations were inundated with clips. Update: As of his morning 16 schools will be closed or partially closed sue to decisions to close beign made late in the day.

Businesses in Devon and Cornwall are being encouraged to offer work placements to students as part of a partnership between the University of Exeter Business School and the Institute of Directors.

This month, a new intake of Business School students were admitted to the IoD’s student membership programme, which offers them access to a range of resources and support to help further their careers.

Free Car Charging opens in Exeter

New free car charging facilities are being installed across Exeter this week in a bid to encourage more people to use electric vehicles.

From Friday (28 March) drivers will be able to charge electric vehicles at four key sites in the city, with four more to follow by 21 April,

Over £150,000 to go to East Devon Commmunities

Communities around East Devon are about to see an extra cash injection after parish and town councils successfully bid for over £150,000 of fresh funding.

In total, £155,558 will be placed in the district’s ‘Parishes Together Fund’ after East Devon District Council and Devon County Council worked together to raise the sum equal to £1.10 per elector. Projects including the Ottery Food Bank, the Cranbrook Community fund, the Axminster mental health organisation known as ‘The Project’ as well as several primary schools in the area are among the projects to benefit from the funding....
