Social enterprises in Exeter are being celebrated at the weekend as part of a nationwide initiative - Social Saturday.
Saturday (10 October) marks a UK-wide day of activity to celebrate, raise awareness and buy from social enterprises.
What sets these businesses aside from traditional businesses is that they trade for a social or an environmental purpose. They reinvest or donate their profits to meet this purpose.

The Exeter Dementia Action Alliance will be officially launching next month at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum with over 100 due to attende from local councillors to city retailers, businesses, people living with dementia and their care givers.

A three-month-old baby was rescued from a locked garage in Newton Abbot today.
Firefighters from Newton Abbot were sent to the garage in Jetty Marsh Road just after 11am, following a call reporting a car with a baby inside, which had been accidently locked in a garage.
Crews rescued the baby girl by gaining access to the garage via a ground floor window and used small tools to gain entry to the vehicle.
Spacex artist and independent curator Trevor Pitt is setting up Preston Street Union – PSU; an affiliation of artists from in and around Exeter that will come together over a five week period to explore collaboration as a strategy for artists. The event will take place from 13 October – 7 November 2015.
