HotSW LEP Business Conference attracts 250 cross sector delegates

The Heart of the South West (HotSW) Local Enterprise Partnership held its first business conference this week, 21st September, which is set to become an annual feature in the HotSW calendar.

The event was a resounding success, with of 250 delegates from the HotSW business and partnership community.

Productivity was the theme of the conference, which opened with a welcome speech from HotSW LEP Chair Steve Hindley, outlining some of the distinctive assets of the area, followed by presentations on HotSW LEP achievements.

Schools take part in RWC team scarecrow competition

To celebrate Exeter’s Host City status in the Rugby World Cup, Princesshay has invited eight local schools from across Exeter and surrounding villages to take part in its Rugby Team Scarecrow competition.

Each school has been designated a team which is playing at Sandy Park in the Rugby World Cup, plus England, South Africa and Wales. Pupils have been set a challenge to use that team’s colours to fashion a bright and colourful decorative scarecrow to represent their chosen team.

A single mum of one from Exeter has written a recipe book to help parents cook healthy meals for their children following news that a three-year-old weighing 5.5st was the youngster person to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Experts believe that an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise made the US toddler, who has not been named, to balloon to twice the normal weight of a child of that age.
