Julio Bashmore

Event Date:
16/10/2015 - 10:00pm
Venue:
Exeter Phoenix

A night of DJs across five rooms with a headliner set from house music producer Julio Bashmore.

It might seem counterintuitive for a producer to detach themselves from one of the planet’s most thriving music scenes, but in the case of Julio Bashmore, that’s exactly what he did growing up in bass music hotbed, Bristol. You see, Julio’s first love is house music. And operating just on the peripheries of the city’s scene has allowed him to quietly cultivate a take on the genre unlike any other.

Starting his creative career in music on the acoustic-folk scene that has seen the likes of Ben Howard and Lucy Rose rise to prominence, Jake Morley’s influences and growth as a musician have led him to new depths and directions.

A rare and unusual talent, Jake Morley made waves with a musical style to drop your jaw, tapping and slapping an acoustic guitar on his lap as if playing the guitar, piano and drums combined… whilst singing.

Sell-out headline gigs and the release of a critically-acclaimed debut EP This City were followed by major support slots for The Hoosiers and...

Event Date:
10/10/2015 - 8:00pm
Venue:
Exeter Phoenix

Barrence Whitfield is a full-throttle soul screamer in the spirit of Little Richard, Wilson Pickett, and Solomon Burke. He has been described as the owner of one incredible pair of lungs, with limitless energy and unmatched enthusiasm for his music and his audience. Barrence is a rarity in this business, one of a few black, rock ‘n roll singer/entertainers who Spin Magazine says maintains a frenzied performance. The Savages lay down a groovy racket that’s so thick and greasy, you’ll need to keep moist towelettes near the hi-fi. Barrence and the boys are to soul what the Cramps are to...

Stanton Warriors

Event Date:
09/10/2015 - 8:30pm
Venue:
Exeter Phoenix

Stanton Warriors are breakbeat producer and DJ duo Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley with a full supporting cast.

The Stanton Warriors have succeeded in not only bucking musical definition but have picked it up by the collar and kicked its ass. They’ve also done this in true underground warrior style as despite becoming the first breakbeat act ever to sign to a major label (warner, no less), they were required to, in their eyes, compromise their style for the sake of shifting units. As a result they refused to put out any releases and focused on the DJing whilst a new label was...
