Former Johannesburg Zoo CEO joins Exeter’s City Vets

An Exeter veterinary practice has welcomed the former head of a South African zoo who has treated everything from chimpanzees to penguins as its new exotics vet.

Stephen Vanderspuy has joined Linnaeus-owned City Vets in Exeter, an appointment which coincides with the arrival of practice director Stuart Ford-Fennah from renowned referral centre Cave Veterinary Specialists, in Somerset.

Stephen has an illustrious career in his birth country of South Africa. He moved to the UK several years ago where he says there is a high demand for treating exotic pets.

Loganair set to launch new service from Exeter

Loganair, the UK’s leading regional airline, is gearing up to launch a new route from Exeter to Manchester.

The new route is part of Loganair’s growing network from the airport, adding to its existing services, which include direct flights to Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Starting on 26 October, the new service will introduce frequent flights between the two cities, before moving to a daily service from March 2026.

Customers will also benefit from Loganair’s codeshare agreement with BA, opening up endless possibilities for international travel on a single ticket...

An innovation designed in Exeter to detect contaminated water and save lives has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

FluoroGlow’s device is designed to detect Cryptosporidium in water – a parasite that can cause severe illness and even death, especially in children and vulnerable people.
