Exeter Pound is giving away £E450 of free money – to keep but not to spend - all through August. £E4.50 notes will be hidden in plain sight around the city centre for people who live, work or are visiting Exeter to find and keep. They were in circulation as a short-run note for the last six months of last year funded by the Exeter Quay and Canal Trust to mark 450 years of the Exeter Ship Canal in 2016. Darts Farm which has just joined Exeter Pound features in the 2017 2nd Edition of the Exeter Pound Guide published today.

Five thousand copies will be available this week from the 166 businesses in the scheme.

The Exeter Pound has officially launched a new note.

With a flourish of his feathered hat the Tudor merchant (alias Exeter Pound Director Martyn Goss) handed the £E4.50 note to the Lord Mayor Cynthia Thompson with hopes that it would ‘bring new wealth’ to the city of Exeter.

The new note had arrived via the Exeter Canal whose 450th anniversary is celebrated this year and received by the Lord Mayor on the Quay. Exeter pound to launch new note

The Exeter Pound is launching a new £E4.50 note on the Quay on Saturday 30th July from 12 noon to mark the 450th anniversary of the Exeter Ship Canal.

The new note will arrive at the Quay by boat having travelled along the ship canal from the Double Locks carried by a Tudor merchant in the costume of 1566 when the ship canal first opened. The merchant will in fact be Martyn Goss, a Director of the Exeter Pound. The new note will be presented to the Lord Mayor of Exeter in the Custom House.

On Saturday Exeter Pound plays host to a gathering of social entrepreneurs, economic thinkers, businesses, voluntary and community groups, all exploring ways to develop a more prosperous and ecologically beneficial economy in which everyone shares, starting here in Devon with local projects.

Exeter Pound have succeeded their target and more by successfully raised over £6800 through an exciting Crowdfunder campaign.

With the funds raised they will have the resources to take the local currency to the next stage- going digital. The Exeter Pound have been running a crowdfund campaign over the last few weeks to prepare the way for the community currency to go digital.

The campaign will come to an end next Monday 4th April with all money raised going towards the systems needed to create the digital currency.

The Exeter Pound has launched a crowdfunding campaign today (15 February) in order to prepare the way for the community currency to go digital. Exeter launched its own paper currency in September 2015 and its reach has been growing ever since. Exeter £E15 becomes history

As the Exeter Pound goes into the next chapter, they’re saying goodbye to the limited edition £E15 note. The note features Exeter Chiefs and England star Jack Nowell in action and celebrated the 2015 Rugby World Cup coming to Exeter.

The special note, valid until 31st December 2015, 4 months after the Exeter Pound officially launched, is now part of the project’s unique history.

Exeter £E15 becomes history in 2016

The Exeter £E15 note, featuring Jack Nowell of Exeter Chiefs has been popular with collectors and fans in Devon and further afield, with buyers from Italy, France, the USA, Slovenia and Australia.

The note is valid for purchases in participating businesses until December 31st 2015.
