Independently owned Exiv Boutique formerly known as ‘Iris Boutique Exeter’ located in Upper Paul Street, just off Gandy Street celebrates its 5th anniversary with a brand new look. Mother and daughter partnership, Marion Harbison and Nichola Hartley bucked the trend in 2008 by launching ‘Iris Boutique Exeter’ during the height of the recession. Five years’ later they are refreshing the business with the new name of ‘Exiv Boutique’, launching a new website and have taken on fashion graduate Agne Andrivlionyte expanding their team.

Members of the local business community were welcomed with wine and canapés at the newly refurbished Lloyd’s Kitchen based in the heart of the City. The event celebrated the re-brand and showcased the new dinner menu as the restaurant now opens for Friday and Saturday evenings. Guests sampled a tasting menu which included the new business express lunches and a charity raffle was held to raise monies for ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund).

Cricket it’s a Christmas Fair runs from 10.30am-4pm and features 70 plus local stall holders offering a great mix of vintage, retro, antique and hand-made goodies. There will be two fashion shows at noon and 2.30pm and cakes from Mrs Gill’s Country Cakes. There will also be apop up beauty parlour with hair from Laura Elston and make-up from Sophie White.
Crickey it’s Rock n Roll is a night of live music from The Hot House Playboys and rocking tunes from DJ Louie Louie. Tickets £6 in advance, £8 on the door, 9pm-1am.
A VIP event was held to launch the opening of the new Charlie’s Live Lounge in Exeter before opening its door to the general public. The exciting new music venue strictly for the over 25’s is the brainchild of local businesswoman Rebecca Weaver. Guests enjoyed fizz and canapés with musical entertainment from Adam Isaac of ‘The Voice’ in the bar area. Live music on the top floor was provided by ‘Dave Can’t Dance’ and 80’s sounds from Ashes to Ashes. A charity raffle raised monies for Families for Children and St. Loye’s Foundation.
Radiance MediSpa hosted ‘A Radiant Christmas’ in aid of The Lady Taverners and Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) with complimentary taster sessions by therapists and stylists at their luxurious venue. BBC Radio Devon presenter Judi Spiers compered the evening with models showcasing the latest Steampunk clothing courtesy of Velveteen Clothes Emporium. The conference centre was transformed into a mini Christmas Fair with unusual and exciting gifts from local independent retailers and Casino Select hosted a roulette table raising further funds for the charities.
College students will be hosting a range of events to raise money for this year’s Children In Need including staff vs student table tennis.
More embarrassment for the staff is on offer with a “Whose that Baby?” competition and pin the tail on the donkey where the donkey includes staff members faces. Students will be giving hairdressing, manicures, wax styles and hand massages. Other fundraising events include, bake sale, Wii games and a fun run.
Moreover everyone will be “going pyjamas”, wearing their finest nightwear for the occasion.
