The Recruiting Officer

Kiss the prettiest wenches, and you are sure of 'listing the lustiest fellows. The dashing Captain Plume has arrived in Shrewsbury to enlist the local men into the King's army using every trick in the book. He's also got his eye on the heiress Sylvia – but will he and the other men realise that the women are doing some recruiting of their own? Heavens!  7.30pm daily, matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday. Kid Carpet presents Blast Off!

Once Upon a Time

Exeter Police & Hospital Players present Once Upon A Time, taking you into the world of Panto Land, where Cinderella’s daughter Lottie is to marry Snow White’s son Prince Marvellous. There are, of course, the baddies, Evelyn the Wicked Witch – desperate for a holiday, with her helpers Nick and Nack. Also appearing is the dame Wishie Washie, and lots of favourites – including Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Dick Whittington and the cat and lots more! Will Lottie make it to marry her handsome Prince? The Steampunk Yule Ball

The Waxroom plus Lion The Weak

Craig Ogden, Guitar

Festive family fun with Devon Wildlife Trust
Cricklepit Mill, Exeter Quay
Christmas at Cricklepit runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm and is a day of free family activities. Visitors will have the chance to make their own willow star Christmas decorations ready to hang up on their tree at home. There will be seasonal storytelling and the chance to meet Father Christmas. Mince pies and hot drinks will be available, while visitors can also buy from the charity’s wonderful range of Christmas cards, calendars and other wildlife-related gifts. Festive Stitching with Madeleine Millington

Ironbridge Runners Charity Exeter Santa Run
Sunday, 9.45am, Piazza Terracina, Exeter Quay

Festive Fun in Fore Street

On Saturday  from 10am to 5pm there will be a carol singers, a string quartet, the seven swans a swimming, a special festive wrapping station, the chance of children to find the Festive Ferret in all participating shops in order to win a prize and much more.    The Bike Shed is offering mince pies and mulled wine all day in its cafe as well as discounted tickets to Eliza and Arietty will be offering hot spicy apple juice too. There will be Carol Singers outside the Mint Methodist Church and outside Tuckers Hall there will be a string quartet. All participating shops will have an offer, discount or freebie available.

Pretty Posh Christmas Fair

This is a one day event for the public to come and do their Christmas shopping under one roof and to buy something which is slightly different as a special gift for your family or friends. Items you’ll find on  sale include jewellery, clothes, scarves, bags, ornaments, mirrors, wool blankets, Alpaca, hats, toys, drift wood, furniture and lots more. EXHIBITIONS

Have you ever played Brazil? Special viewing
Saturday, noon, Exeter City Fooball Club, St James Park, Exeter
Exeter City Football Club have arranged an opportunity for a special public viewing of the new exhibition Have you ever played Brazil? The exhibition will be open from noon until 2pm in the Capital Suite in the St James Centre. The exhibition, tells the story of Exeter City’s 1914 South American tour, where the team made history by becoming the first opponents of the Brazil national team. All are welcome and entrance is free.

Awake Through Years: Four Southwest Wood Engravers
RAMM, Queen Street, Exeter
Land and seascapes; antiquities and historic buildings; composite topographical townscapes; and monumental figures and book illustrations from four contemporary South West wood engravers: Harry Brockway, Hilary Paynter, Pam Pebworth and Howard Phipps. Kit Poulson: After the Enlightenment

Kit Poulson’spractice meanders back and forth from painting, paying visits to installation, video and performance making, via writing fiction, to explore parallels and connections between materiality, imagery and thought.
