Dream-A-Way, the local Exeter based charity run entirely by a dedicated volunteer team, celebrated their 21st annual golf day at Woodbury Park recently, on a day which proved record breaking in many ways. They are hugely grateful for the massive generosity of supporters and sponsors, both locally and nationally and indebted to everyone who sponsored or played who were the backbone which ensured a truly memorable day. Charity welcomes 10,000th guests to Sandy Bay

Dream-A-Way has welcomed the Dunn family to their newest caravan at beautiful Devon Cliffs, Sandy Bay. This was even more special as they became Dream-A-Way's 10,000th guests to holiday in one of the charity's beautiful holiday homes - an amazing total which would not have been achievable without the valued support of so many local individuals and companies. Anna said: "We often hear about so called wheelchair access holidays!! Well this one is for real! It was designed with full wheelchair use in mind and 100% accessible!

Charity's Magical Mystery Tour a big success

Almost 50 Dream-A-Way guests took part in a magical mystery tour on Wednesday 16 September alongside volunteer, Mike Rock, and his team from Friends of Dream-A-Way Sidmouth.

Guests were overwhelmed with generosity when treated to teas, coffees and cakes during their first stop at Marine Public House and Beckett’s Coffee Shop which sit on the Sidmouth sea front. Dream-A-Way were also thrilled by the generous donation given by The Marine.

Following some retail therapy and sight-seeing, the group travelled along the East Devon coast to award-winning spot, Ladram Bay.

Charity makes Tom's dream come true

Exeter based charity Dream-A-Way recently provided a holiday grant to young Tom from East Devon and were delighted to meet up with him and to hear about his wonderful holiday experience Tom flew to Rome with his carers in November for a 5 day holiday at the Star Hotel Metropole. Tom is an absolutely delightful young man and it was a real pleasure to spend some time with him and his lovely carers, Julie and Kate. He has no vision whatsoever and is autistic. Nothing though, has stopped him from researching foreign countries and cuisines and cultures.

Dream-A-Way, the 2014 charity for Princesshay, were delighted to receive the support of Mercedes-Benz of Exeter with the generous donation of a Mercedes-Benz A Class 180 for their festive raffle.

Dream-A-Way was formed in 1993 and during 2014 they have proudly celebrated their 21st Anniversary. Throughout this time the charity has been managed by a strong team of volunteers, all of whom are unpaid and receive no expenses, payments or honoraria thus ensuring that all funds raised and generously donated are used to support local people with disabilities.

Charity comedy night a roaring success

Exeter-based charity Dream-A-Way are celebrating the success of the first fundraising event organised by their Sidmouth supporters.

It was a comedy night staged at the Marine Pub in Sidmouth .

Organiser Mike Rock said: “The night was a great success with over 70 attending comedians travelling down from Bath.

"Many thanks to all the staff and owners for hosting our first ever Dream-A-Way Sidmouth event and a particular thank you to the loft, Sarah and Phil for providing raffle prizes which helped us to raise £163!”

Skydive for charity and be a record breaker

In June next year, 333 fundraisers will jump from 15,000 feet to break the Guinness World Record.

Skydive UK Ltd is one of the biggest skydiving schools in the UK. They have started a search for over 300 brave fundraisers who will skydive for charity and attempt to break the existing record.

The current Guinness World Record for the most tandem skydives within 24 hours is 281 and is also held by Skydive UK.

“We know we can do more. We will prove this by breaking our own record, aiming for 333,” said Jason Farrant, managing director of Skydive UK.

Security team take on 21 hour challenge

Princesshay’s security team are to take on a 21 hour endurance walk to raise money for Princesshay’s charity of the year Dream-A-Way starting at 7pm on Friday 21 November and finishing at 4pm the following day on Saturday 22 November.

Dream-A-Way is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year and to mark the occasion and to raise money, Princesshay’s management and security team have been actively fundraising since the beginning of the charity partnership in January.

Diamonds are Forever ball raises over £25,000

The very popular Exeter based charity Dream-A-Way, proudly celebrated their 21st anniversary on Friday 17 October by hosting their ninth consecutive Ball in the beautiful new suites at Sandy Park, the home of the amazing Exeter Chiefs.

The Diamonds Are Forever themed Ball was a glittering success and thoroughly enjoyed by all 325 guests.
