Exmouth Round Table Annual Charity Fireworks Display Exmouth Rugby Football Club, Royal Avenue, Exmouth Raising funds in aid of Exmouth RNLI. The evening will be hosted by Radio Exe and Chris Dinnis. Creation Station are in attendance for those who would like to get arty before the fireworks start. Admission: £6 adults, £4 children. Shakespeare Lecture 2016 Thursday 21st April 2016 at 19.00 in the Chapter House

400 years ago, in April 1616, William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes died within days of each other. In this lecture, our speaker Philip Schwyzer will explore some of the aspects of the work of these two great literary figures, and their continuing legacies.

The Cathedral Library's copy of the Second Folio Edition of Shakespeare's works (1632) will also be on display in the Chapter House.

Exeter collector Heather Coleman has turned her passion for old clay tobacco pipes into a business and now supplies crafted clay pipes worldwide for television, film and theatre. Most recently a selection of her pipes appeared in the popular TV series Poldark and she has also made special pipes for many well-known people including President Obama, Johnny Depp, the late Terry Pratchett, and comedian Phil Jupitus.

Early Christmas present for Exeter shoppers

Shoppers are being given an early Christmas present by the City Council – a great parking offer!

Customers will be able to double the length of their stay in the Council’s Pay & Display car parks when arriving after 10.00am on Wednesdays in December.

The length of stay indicated on the purchased ticket will be doubled by officers undertaking enforcement patrols.

Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will be “chewning” into the airwaves on Bonfire Night to help petrified pooches conquer their fear of fireworks and are urging Devon dog owners and radio stations to do the same. A Dogs Trust survey of 3,750 pet owners shows that two-thirds of dogs are worried by fireworks and that 93% of their owners alter their routine during fireworks celebrations to try to minimise the trauma on their pets. Future Cube on display outside Exeter Cathedral

International streetartist Mohammed Ali is displaying his unique Future Cube outside Exeter Cathedral.

The cube is an interpretation of how religious belief is expressed in new ways in contemporary times. Each side of the large cube displays a different setting, with desert and rural meeting urban landscapes.

The Arabic word ‘Al Musaqubal’ – which means the future – wraps around the cube.
