East Devon District Council and the Environment Agency are working together to reduce the risk of flooding from extreme sea levels in the Camperdown area of Exmouth.
The work is being carried out as part of the Exmouth Tidal Defence Study and the Council and Environment Agency are reviewing the options to upgrade the flood defences. The project aims to protect the estuary frontage, parts of the seafront and around 1,000 properties in the town.

Rail passengers can get 10% off their food bill at selected pubs when they show the train ticket for their journey. Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg this week met with police officers from Devon and Cornwall Police and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) to learn about the benefits of drones for policing.
Devon and Cornwall Police has been trialling the use of drones to aid police work since early November 2015.
The force currently has two drones in operation, which have been used at a number of major incidents across the two counties.

Police are concerned for the welfare of a 20-year-old woman who has gone missing in Devon and may be in Bristol.
Kaya Kelly was reported missing at 9.15pm on Thursday 7 January from Torbay District Hospital in Torquay.
She was last seen at Bristol Temple Meads train station at 11.30am on Monday 11 January.

The number of Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA) claimants in Devon fell by 91 in December compared to the previous month.
The 2.5 per cent fall now means that there are 3,602 claimants, the lowest level on record.
Overall the claimant rate for Devon (the proportion of the county’s working age population claiming JSA) remained the same at 0.8%, well below the UK average of 1.5%.
