The newly formed Friends of Exeter Ship Canal will be getting down to work on Saturday 21 January 2017 cutting back unwanted willows and brambles from the canal banks.

A volunteer work party will don gloves, gauntlets and layers of warm clothing, and clear about 150 metres along the right hand bank going down the towpath from Salmon Pool swing bridge towards Double Locks.

Six of the West Country’s top sporting stars will be at Exeter’s Sandy Park on Thursday 26th January to feature in the third ‘Question of Sport’ evening in aid of the Exeter Foundation.

Olympic Gold Medal winning hockey player Giselle Ansley and fellow Olympian Jo Pavey head up a star-studded list of sporting guests, which also includes Exeter Chiefs stars Gareth Steenson and Julian Salvi, Somerset County Cricket’s Lewis Gregory and Exeter City’s Lee Holmes.

On Wednesday 25th January, Constructionline is hosting a supplier engagement event to connect local tradespeople in the Exeter area with leading UK building and civil engineering company Sir Robert McAlpine as it looks to source suppliers for three new projects.

Cheaper cashless parking for Devon drivers

Drivers in Devon are benefitting from cheaper cashless parking thanks to a new system that has been rolled out across the county.

Devon County Council has partnered with Bemrose Mobile to deliver the new cashless payment service, taking over from previous provider RingGo.

The Tesco Extra store in Exeter Vale has lent a helping hand to the Music in Devon Initiative’s Soundtribe Programme by sponsoring £5,000.

Music in Devon Initiative (MIDI) is a non-profit organisation founded by a group of local musicians and industry professionals. Its aim is to develop emerging talent and opportunities throughout Devon. The next Exeter Board meeting will feature a discussion on cycling in the city.

Exeter residents are invited to attend the meeting and hear about Devon County Council’s Exeter Cycling Campaign.

Mr and Mrs Walter and Elsie Nicholls, residents at RMBI care home Cadogan Court in Exeter, celebrated 70 years of marriage on 4 January 2017. Residents and staff gathered in the Home's dining room to celebrate the occasion with musical entertainment by a band with banjos and a special lunch.
