Exeter ‘prisoners’ released after raising £11,000 bail

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) held its annual Jail and Bail fundraising event in Exeter Castle on Friday, which raised over £11,000 for the local children’s charity.

Seven local business people took part in the event which involved individuals getting arrested and put on trial for fictitious crimes including noise pollution, being a Bristol Bears fan in Exeter Chief’s territory and being the world’s worse dancer!

Prisoners included David Roberts from Nu-Heat UK, Kevin Felon from RGB Building Supplies, Kevin Parry & Scott Hunt from NatWest, Chris Callan from TT...

National Lottery TV prize surprise for heritage project

The team behind a project which is helping 20 heritage destinations in the South West of England become more accessible to people with disabilities will be honoured as the nation’s favourite Heritage project at this year’s National Lottery Awards show broadcast on BBC One. At 10.45pm on Wednesday 26 September, viewers will witness the Heritage Ability project run by the Exeter-based Living Options Devon charity win a £5,000 prize at the star studded bash.

Man assaulted at Dawlish station

Officers investigating an assault at Dawlish station, where a man was head-butted by another man, are today appealing for witnesses.

At approximately 8.30pm on 25 August, there was an altercation on platform one at the station between two men. The victim, who has not yet contacted police, was head-butted by the suspect who then walks away. A short while later he returns, and kicks and punches the man several times before boarding a train on platform one. CCF, a leading insulation and interior building products distributor, has celebrated one year of trading at its Exeter branch, located on Blackmore Road in Hill Barton Business Park. TV adventurers to talk at South West Outdoor Festival in Devon

Two well-known TV adventurers, Monty Halls and Conrad Humphries, who have both recently appeared in their own adventure series on Channel 4, will be appearing at the National Trust’s 2018 South West Outdoor Festival. The Breakfast Run on 30 September will be a family affair for Sabrina Eastley, who is taking part with her children, Jack, age 14, Joby, 13, Harvey, 9, and Ruby, 8, and her Mum, Jackie.

They are raising funds in memory of husband and father James, who died at home in the care of Hospiscare in March this year.

Princesshay have a free family event on 22nd September in celebration of bees. The event includes artwork, family workshops and tours from 10am to 4pm to celebrate the centre’s rooftop garden, home to thousands of bees.

The event will unveil a brand-new, temporary art installation representing flowers loved by bees and created by aptly-named artist, Bee Watson. Visitors can also join in with a free family craft workshop and make paper flowers to add to the installation. Citizens Advice Devon is urging local organisations which support or work with benefits claimants to ensure their staff and volunteers are fully up to speed with the new Universal Credit system as it continues its roll-out across the South West. The Donkey Sanctuary shows Neil Parish MP why it’s a leading visitor destination

The Member of Parliament for Tiverton and Honiton, Neil Parish, visited the main headquarters of the international animal welfare charity, The Donkey Sanctuary, in Sidmouth last Thursday (30 August). Mr Parish’s visit came at the end of a bumper summer that saw visitor numbers to the charity’s headquarters increase by 18% compared to last year.
