Rainbow Living announce partnership with Exeter Golf & Country Club
Rainbow Living is very excited to announce the charity has been selected by Exeter Golf and Country Club as the Golf Captains’ Charity of the Year for 2018/19.
Over the next 12 months Exeter Golf and Country Club is aiming to raise £10,000 for Rainbow Living, which is a local volunteer-run charity providing accommodation for adults with learning and other disability. Fundraising has already commenced with the Golf Dinner and Dance event raising £1,000. Many more fundraising events are planned throughout the year, including raffles, auctions and coffee mornings.
The partnership is perfectly timed as Rainbow Living is currently fundraising for its fourth Rainbow House, which will be in Exeter, and every single penny raised by the club will go straight towards this project. Exeter Golf and Country Club have a long history of supporting charities through the Golf Captains’ Charity of the Year initiative; Rainbow Living was chosen for many reasons, but key in the decision was the charity’s strong links to working in Exeter and supporting young local adults with learning and other disabilities.
Men’s Golf Captain, Pete Bennett said: “I am delighted that we will be supporting Rainbow Living as our chosen charity over the next 12 months. The people who run the charity are all volunteers and they work so hard to give opportunities to young adults with additional needs which wouldn’t otherwise be available to them. We are looking forward to working in partnership with the charity to raise vital funds which will go towards a fourth Rainbow House, and which we know will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of many.”
Rainbow Living’s Treasurer Ruth Airdrie, MBE, said: “We are so excited about this partnership and cannot thank the club enough for choosing to support us. We are aiming to raise £50,000 in local fundraising and being the Club’s Charity of the Year will be significant in helping us to achieve this.”
Over the last 10 years, Rainbow Living has enjoyed success with its unique housing model, which enables adults with learning and other disability to live with their peers in specially adapted accommodation, designed to promote and encourage independent supported living. The charity has continued to see growth in demand for its services locally, and hopes that Rainbow House Four will help to fill some of the void in the provision of long-term supported accommodation in the local area.
