Traffic signal replacement work at busy Exeter junction

Preparatory work is underway to upgrade traffic signals at a junction in Alphington Street, Exeter, later this month.

Temporary traffic signals will be in place at the junction of Exe Bridge/Alphington Street and Alphington Street/Haven Road, from Wednesday 24 October to enable the work to be carried out.

The signals, poles and electrics will all be replaced, and cable ducting will also be repaired. As much of the scheme as possible will be carried out using the existing traffic signals but the temporary lights will be used when the main signals are replaced.

Exeter local, Jude Hamer is having a phenomenal year in her sporting career. A member of Britain’s most successful women’s team in British Wheelchair Basketball’s history, having secured a dramatic silver medal at the 2018 World Championships in Hamburg.

Exeter street sweeper honoured

A street sweeper who went to the aid of an elderly lady, who had fallen over in Exeter city centre, has won an award. Matt Campbell who is part of Exeter City Council’s city centre team was recognised at Exeter Tidy Group’s Ambassador of the Year Awards. The Awards recognise the people - street sweepers and grounds maintenance staff - who keep Exeter looking good. Seven of Hospiscare’s charity shops in Exeter, have joined forces with national careers app Debut and TV fashion expert Amber Butchart and will feature the ‘Dress to Impress for £10’ initiative from Monday 15th October.

The national initiative is being showcased at charity shops across the UK and will help improve job prospects for millions of individuals by providing access to interview outfits for only £10 and educate job seekers on correct interview attire.
