Work on the latest phase of the Stop Line Way walking and cycling route has started this week (Monday 8 June).
The one kilometre section which will be developed by Devon County Council over the next 16 weeks, will provide an off-road connection from the cemetery, near Marsh Lane, in Seaton, to Colyford Common near the junction of Seaton Road/Popes Lane, in Colyford.
The route was granted planning permission in September 2011.

Police in Devon and Cornwall have welcomed a new report from the National Police Chief’s Council showing a nationwide reduction in the use of police custody cells as a place of safety for those suffering mental illness.
Historically, police cells have been used to house those people detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983. The Government announced earlier this year that it would seek legislation to prohibit the use of police cells as a place of safety for under-18s and reduce the 72 maximum detention period for adults.
A flower festival and garden fete will be part of a weekend of events at St Peter’s Church in Zeal Monachorum from Friday 12th June to Sunday 14th June.
The church will be open each day for the flower festival which have a theme of ‘weddings’. More than 10 wedding dresses will be displayed belonging to ladies who were married at St Peter’s with the floral displays around the church depicting the colours of the bouquets.
The church will be open from 2.30pm to 5pm on the Friday, and from 11am to 5pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

Computer screens built into contact lenses and electronics in our skin will be commonplace in a few years, according to futurologist Dr Ian Pearson.
Dr Pearson, the inventor of the text message, was speaking at a conference organised by Invest in Exeter at the city’s new Science Park Centre, which was showcasing the area as a location for inward investment.
He predicted active contact lenses will mean: “You will be able to watch TV with your eyes closed or read emails first thing in the morning without reaching for a gadget.”
