A year in the planning, the Connaught@Christmas illuminated trail is finally ablaze with a delightful atmosphere created by thousands of colourful LED lights.

Although the first night was cancelled due to extreme high winds from Storm Barra, the lighting, structures and marquee escaped the ravages of the storm, allowing the event to go ahead on the second night. Ticket holders were refunded and most immediately rebooked for another day.

As lockdown measures begin to ease, a brand new event combining creative light displays with seasonal entertainment, local craft and great food is being devised to help boost Sidmouth’s Christmas celebrations.

Connaught@Christmas is set to bring a beautifully illuminated visitor experience to Connaught Gardens, making the most of its wonderful location on the clifftops overlooking the sea. Interpretation panels developed for East Devon parks

History of much loved East Devon parks and gardens will be captured for posterity thanks to Heritage Lottery Fund award of £9,500

Interpretation panels for each of East Devon District Council’s eight parks and gardens are currently being developed by the council using information provided by local museums and local community members/groups. East Devon’s in-house design team are currently producing these ready for installation this spring.

Public safety around cliffs a priority for EDDC

East Devon District Council has almost completed its annual cliff inspections at Sidmouth’s Connaught Gardens, Beer’s East Beach and East Cliff at Budleigh Salterton.

As a matter of emergency, Seaton West Walk cliffs were done earlier in the year, due to a recent cliff fall. It is anticipated that all the inspections will be finished by mid April.
