In a recent article by Razz Magazine, the University of Exeter’s Arts, Culture and Lifestyle mag, Devon Coffee was crowned the favourite coffee shop in Exeter and so, obviously, I had to go and see what all the fuss was about.

On first impression the café looks very narrow, almost claustrophobic. However, once I’d ordered a coffee and taken a seat I realised I’d mistaken claustrophobia for a charming setting. It’s unlike any other coffee place – it’s a warm, cosy, gently lit space in comparison to the bright commercial chains most of us fall into the habit of visiting.

Following on from a very successful event in August, local brain injury charity Headway Devon are looking forward to a Christmassy Coffee & Crafts by the Quay event this Saturday.

Taking place at the XCentre on Commercial Road on Saturday 7th November from 10am-4pm, this coffee and crafts event is the perfect place to get ahead on the Christmas shopping and discover some unique gifts!

With lots of local craft stalls to browse selling a huge range of beautiful items there should be something to suit all tastes and budgets.

The UK barista championships held in Birmingham last weekend welcomed competitors from all over the UK where each entrant demonstrated their ‘barista’ skills to a panel of judges.

Steve Pearson from Devon Coffee, in Exeter’s Queen Street, battled against some of the best speciality coffee shops in the country and scored 490 points, placing him 14th on the leader board.

Costa is bringing festive spirit to Exeter’s Princesshay this weekend teaming-up with UK children’s charity Youth Music to bring shoppers some Christmas entertainment with a difference. Talented young people from the local Wren Music project will come together to form a specially crafted Christmas singing group to entertain customers between 11am and 1pm and will treat them to a variety of Christmas music, revamped with a modern twist.
