New coffee pod recycling collections to start in Exeter

People in Exeter can take advantage of a new kerbside recycling service for plastic and aluminium coffee pods, the City Council has announced.

Starting on 24 January, Exeter residents will be able to have their coffee pods collected from home.

The City Council has teamed up with Podback, a not-for-profit coffee recycling service, to offer the free collections.

Flyers explaining the service will be sent out by Podback to all residents during the week commencing 10 January.

It has been a difficult year for so many, and Rediscover Church in Exeter aims to spread Christmas cheer across the city by distributing about a 1,000 Christmas hampers to those in need.

The hampers are packed with a range of food including pasta, rice, sauces, biscuits, tea, coffee, mince pies, beans, soup and more to support a range of people through the festive period.

A Devon-based, award-winning coffee pod producer is breaking into the Chinese market with its eco-friendly, compostable coffee capsules made from wood and bark.

Blue Goose’s coffee pods are now selling in China online through the Great British Food Store on the country’s largest social media platform, WeChat.

The Great British Food Store just set up by Business West, one of the UK’s largest Chambers of Commerce, is already selling 20 UK food and drink brands on WeChat which has a user base of 1.2 billion.

Sing it out and sing it loud! A Devon town is boosting its green credentials by encouraging people to take reusable cups to local cafes - and there’s even a special song created to celebrate the initiative.

Coffee lovers should ‘think local’ during UK Coffee Week says Devon-based Blue Goose

While a cup of coffee is great as a morning pick me up, its far more than a shot of stimulation, and Devon-based Blue Goose Coffee is asking consumers to ‘think local’ before drinking their favourite brand during UK Coffee Week which ends on October 25.

“It’s about conscious purchasing,” said Exeter-based co-founder Lex Thornely who is supporting the annual UK Coffee Week, which is a charitable fundraising week supporting Project Waterfall, where coffee businesses and coffee lovers across the UK come together to help the people and communities who grow coffee.
