The Glorious Baroque

We start the 17/18 season with a glorious celebration of Baroque music. Handel’s Zadok the Priest and Let thy Hand be Strengthened were both composed to be performed at the Coronation of British monarchs. Soprano Kirsty Hopkins will perform Vivaldi’s sublime Nulla in Mundo Pax. The concert will culminate in Bach’s triumphant Magnificat in D. We will be conducted by our new Director of Music, Howard Ionascu and accompanied by the Exeter Chamber Orchestra led by Julie Hill.

Benedicite - a Concert of Celebration and Praise

Joyful celebration will be the theme of the concert. The Bach motet has great vitality and energy, while the work by Howells is in the glorious English cathedral tradition. Andrew Carter’s Benedicite (Bless the Lord) includes movements full of fun for children’s choir. Exeter Philharmonic Choir is delighted that Devon County Junior Choir will join us again to take part in the Benedicite and perform Captain Noah and His Floating Zoo.

Join Exeter Choral Society to hear this well known choral work, sung in English, from its explosive opening chorus to the emotional closing choral.

The concert is in support of Remember that Song , a local charity running singing sessions for people with dementia.

A storm of a concert with The High C's community choir and Dartmoor choir The Lost Sound A cappella chorus coming together to raise money for The Helen Foundation charity.

The charity was recently acknowledged by No 10 with Founder Annie Kirk being invited by Sam Cameron to discuss their work along with other charities across the UK.

The Lost Sound recently supported Steve Knightley, from Show of Hands on his solo tour last September and are already booked to sing in Bristol, Glas-Denbury and Torbay Song Festival this summer.
