Exeter's new designer charity boutique on Paris Street, Sprout, which raises funds for homeless charity Emmaus, will be officially launched on Wednesday 6th October by Terry Waite, the charity's President and former special envoy to the Archbishop of Canterbury who was taken captive in Lebanon in 1987 whilst negotiating the release of Western hostages. Frontline workers across Devon are being invited to enjoy a free day at Exeter Racecourse on Sunday 23 November as the course hosts its annual Devon Air Ambulance Raceday, one of the region’s strongest displays of community support for a local lifesaving charity. Charity mentor nears end of epic fundraiser to help young people move on after childhood trauma

The end is in sight for Newton Abbot resident Alex Lyons, who’s closing in on the finale of a gruelling year-long challenge which has taken him right across Devon: running 50 half-marathons in 50 weeks to mark his 50th birthday and raise £10,000 for the local charity Life Chance Trust.

Alex’s 50th and final run will take place at the Torbay Half Marathon on Sunday, 21st September 2025, marking the end of an epic journey by the volunteer mentor to support vulnerable 16 - 25 year olds like ‘K’, now 18, whom Alex has mentored (story attached).

CLIC for Christmas 2016

Following the phenomenal success of the concert last Christmas which raised nearly £10,000 for CLIC Sargent, on Friday 9th December, La La Choirs will again perform ‘CLIC for Christmas’ at Exeter Cathedral.

For the second year, the event includes running a Devon-wide secondary school choir competition with the winning school choir claiming a featured spot in the concert on the night. Entries were invited from secondary schools all over Devon. The standard of entries was excellent and the panel had a tough job whittling them down to the three finalists.

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park has launched an online In Memoriam book for people with a special affection for the Zoo. And the first names in the book are those of two very special people.
