Local business offers Father Christmas a helping hand!

A Devon removals company is volunteering its services to the charity Operation Christmas Child for the second year running.

The idea of the organisation is to encourage donations of shoeboxes filled with gifts. These shoe boxes are then delivered around the world to children who without this donation may not receive a Christmas gift. In 2011 Van Man Exeter contacted Operation Christmas Child’s Exeter base to offer our assistance.

We moved approximately 1400 cubic feet of boxes from Plymouth to join the 16,000 shoeboxes to leave the Exeter depot destined...

The Exeter Daily talks to Lisa Boucher from Exmouth about her recent challenge to scale Ben Nevis with five friends, Ella Mills, Jane Bing, Nadine Richardson, Jan Ackerman and Petrina Shorrock, in aid of Hospiscare.

We wanted to raise money for a local charity so it stays close to home. Why did you choose to climb...

Parachutes not picnics for teddies on Cathedral Green

Hundreds of teddy bears swallowed their fears and went 100ft up in the air on a cherrypicker to do a sponsored parachute jump for charity on Cathedral Green this afternoon.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Exeter and sponsored by Burgoynes Estate Agents, the toys were jumping in aid of the children's ward, Bramble, at the RD&E, as well as fundraising for the cathedral's Third Millennium campaign.

The event was compered by Radio Exe, who announced every bear - as well as its nervous owner below - before they jumped, while the Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service...
