Kidz First Aid makes a difference to Devon Air Ambulance Trust

Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) rarely endorses a product but, when approached by Katie Finn of Kidz First Aid (KFA), we knew this was something special.

Katie is a Paediatric Nurse with over 13 years’ experience of working in Accident and Emergency.  She also has specialist training in paediatric burns and child protection, as well as being qualified to teach adult learners.

Katie set up Kidz First Aid (KFA) originally to offer First Aid training courses, designed specifically with babies and children in mind, for both parents and professionals.  However she discovered that the first aid kits on the market for babies and children were not only really expensive but also didn’t include items that she would want to see in them.  She set about putting her own together for those attending her courses but soon realised that her kits fulfilled an unmet need.

Looking for a local charity to support through a donation from the sale of each kit, Katie chose to support DAAT. This was an easy choice as she had witnessed first hand the invaluable work we do in airlifting children to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.

Heléna Holt, Chief Executive of DAAT, said “We are delighted to be working with Katie and KFA.  We rarely endorse products but in this case we felt there was great synergy between our two organisations.  To have such a great product, at a reasonable price that also gives peace of mind to parents, is essential and we are delighted to get involved with KFA.”

She added “Last year 9.2% of our airlifts, including hospital transfers, were to children under the age of 16.   Incidents varied greatly from medical emergencies to accidents such as burns and falls.   To have a specialist first aid kit in your bag, glovebox or at home can only be a good thing for minor and major situations.”
