Wild Beef’s sustainable farming celebrated in national ‘Thoughtful Eating’ campaign

Ethical Devonshire farmers Wild Beef have been featured in a series of mini documentaries celebrating home-grown British ingredients; just one of a handful of producers featured for raising the bar in their industry and for creating food according to their ethos; ‘Food as Nature Intended.’

The series ‘On the Road to Thoughtful Eating’ is the latest food initiative by Hemsley + Hemsley, the London-based sisters renowned for turning healthy food into an art. The documentaries are currently available on the Hemsley + Hemsley website and YouTube.

Fire and ambulance crews attend two-car collision on A382 in Wray Barton

Update 13 August 9pm: The A382 has now reopened following an earlier incident (see below).

13 August 1.05pm: The A382 in Wray Barton, Dartmoor is currently closed with reports of delays in both directions near the Pepperdon Hall Lane junction due to an earlier accident involving two vehicles.

The Fire Service reports that it was called to a report of a road traffic collision outside Wray Barton Manor on the A382 with somebody still believed to be inside a vehicle involved suffering from chest pains.

New Devon venture offers holiday breaks with a literary twist

The Reading Room Devon is running a series of one- and two-day courses that look into Devon's literary links. These reading retreats can also involve staying overnight at Greenbank, a farmhouse B&B overlooking Chagford on Dartmoor.

Set up by two English literature lecturers the reading holiday idea came about following a busy day in the classroom.

"We realised that what we loved about teaching was the endless sense of discovery," says Leah Varnell, one of the pair behind the project.

Police discover woman's body on Dartmoor

Police discovered the body of a woman at Kes Tor on Dartmoor near Chagford at around 10.50pm yesterday (2 May).

The deceased is thought to be a woman in her 40s from the Chagford area.

Next of kin have been informed, and although formal identification has not yet taken place it is likely that the woman is Fay Charters who was reported missing in the area last night.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Launch of Historic Dartmoor town's new destination website

The Chagford and District Business Association launched their new destination website www.visitchagford.com at a lunchtime reception hosted by world-renowned Gidleigh Park and supported by culinary superstar Michael Caines and Chagford-based Helpful Holidays. Both Michael Caines and Neil Tappenden from Visit Chagford spoke at the event.

The new destination website was supported by West Devon Borough Council and offers visitors to Chagford a wide range of information about what to do and where to stay in this beautiful Dartmoor Stannary Town.
