Staff at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have raised £700 for Comic Relief by holding a Great Inter-Divisional Bake Off on Red Nose Day. Competition was fierce as staff from each division in the Trust – Specialist Services, Medicine and Surgery - put their culinary skills to the test and came up with all manner of baked confections for their divisional cake sales. Physiotherapists bake off for Hospiscare

Physiotherapists at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Heavitree have raised over £200 for Hospiscare by holding their ‘Big Devon Bake Off’.

Inspired by their love of cake, the department pulled out all the stops to host a baking competition for the charity’s September event, presenting an impressive range of baked confections for judges Liz Jacobs and Jane Middleton.

GBBO star bakes a difference for epileptics

Exeter-based baker Glenn Cosby is sharing his baking expertise to support Epilepsy Action’s National Tea and Cake Break. Epilepsy Action is the UK’s leading epilepsy charity. Glenn, who was a contestant on the BBC’s Great British Bake Off in 2013, has donated a recipe to the charity to inspire other budding bakers to get involved and bake a difference for people with epilepsy.

Bake Off's best bits at Magdalen Chapter

Wednesday saw the return of BAFTA award-winning, BBC smash hit, The Great British Bake Off. To coincide with its eagerly awaited arrival, The Magdalen Chapter in Exeter is to recreate the star bakes as featured on the previous evening’s show.

Devon nursing team in charity bake-off

MEMBERS of the Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group’s nursing team have been baking for a good cause.

The Exeter-based team was inspired by the Great British Bake Off TV show to bake their favourite cup cakes, chocolate pudding and sponge, and helped raise money for the 1664 Challenge.

The 1664 Challenge aims to raise £500,000 for injured Royal Marines. The nursing team raised £200 for the charity.
