A popular Michael Buble tribute act will get Tiverton into the Christmas swing when it returns in November to help raise money for Hospiscare.

Singer Jamie Somers wowed the Tiverton audience earlier this year when he performed the Canadian crooner’s hits at Heathcoat Hall.

With requests flooding in for a repeat performance Jamie jumped at the chance to leave Tiverton ‘feeling good’ once more with his Christmas Special on Friday, November 29.

Event organiser Ian Thomas said: “Jamie was so popular on his last visit here. His interaction with the audience made him...

Devon braced for wild weather as storm heads our way

Devon residents were tonight bracing themselves for a ferocious storm which experts warn could leave a trail of destruction across the county. Motorists are being told to expect atrocious driving conditions in the morning and today ferry services were cancelled due to the adverse conditions. Heavy rain has been falling since around 8pm and is only expected to intensify as the weather front sweeps in. Forecasters say the storm could be the worst since 1987 when 17 people died. Normally extreme weather of this nature begins life much further out to sea and loses strength by the time it hits...

Lou Reed, the singer, guitarist and songwriter and a key figure in the history of rock music through his work both solo and with The Velvet Underground, has died at the age of 71.

Born in New York in 1942, Lewis Allen 'Lou' Reed attended Syracuse University where he was taught by the poet Delmore Schwartz who would become his mentor. Influenced by doo wop, R&B and the free jazz excursions of the saxophonist Ornette Coleman, Reed went on to form The Velvet...

Homeowners will also have the chance to meet qualified local installers, and see the products...

Agony for City as point is snatched at the death

After two strong away results in the last seven days, Exeter City saw a point snatched away at the death as Burton Albion left it late to grab the winner at St James Park.

The Brewers had an abundance of corners throughout the match, but left it until the last of their 14 corners to finally penetrate the City defence, as Phil Edwards powered home an 89th-minute header.

Today’s fixture marked the One Game One Community promotion of female participation in football, and there were several local Women and Girls football teams at SJP watching the match, including Moors Youth...

Chiefs give Warriors a fright

Halloween maybe a few days away, but Worcester’s Aviva Premiership campaign is in danger of turning into a horror show after they were dealt a six-try thumping by the in-form Exeter Chiefs.

Rob Baxter’s side returned to top flight action with aplomb, producing a defiant first half defensive show, before cutting loose in attack after the break.

Aussies Ben White and Dean Mumm both crossed for first half tries for the home side; before White, Phil Dollman, Damian Welch and Haydn Thomas got in on the scoring act after the break. Former Exeter player Ignacio Mieres countered...
