Mitch Benn’s new show combines his Scouse upbringing with his love of music and a lifelong obsession with Liverpool’s most famous sons.
It is most definitely not a tribute show and while his affection for his subjects is well documented, expect the satirical twists for which Mitch is well known.
As Mitch himself says: “Many have claimed the title ‘Fifth Beatle’. They can’t all be right; some were righter than others…”
Taking the Mic returns for another evening of have-a-go magic, hosted by performance poets Morwenna Griffiths and Tim King.
Poetry is the mainstay of our show but we also welcome comedy, philosophy, theatrical acts and singer-songwriters. Every performer gets a five minute slot to showcase their talent.

Cornell Campbell’s inspired pairing with Soothsayers first took shape through a chance meeting between him and Robin Hopcraft from Soothsayers, in Kingston, Jamaica early in 2011. The result has been their critically acclaimed new album Nothing Can Stop Us and a UK tour.
