Head coach Rob Baxter believes Ceri Sweeney has a key role to play within the Exeter Chiefs make-up after he today agreed terms on a new one-year deal with the Aviva Premiership club.

The experienced 34-year-old fly-half is the latest Chief to commit his future to the Devon club, whom he joined last summer after five seasons playing in the Welsh capital with the Cardiff Blues.

Sweeney's decision to extend his stay at Sandy Park is not only a welcome boost for Baxter, but will ensure the Chiefs have plenty of options in the crucial No.10 jersey along with Gareth Steenson and...

THE UK'S official number one ABBA tribute band are heading to Tiverton Golf Club, Devon, in April.

ABBA Revival won the accolade at the recent National Tribute Awards, hosted by The Agents' Association.

Their show at the golf club on Friday 4 April sold out within two weeks in January.

The quick sell-out prompted the club to book a second date with the same band on Thursday 3 April (7pm), which is open to everyone.

The shows, which are being sponsored by Angel Guest House in Tiverton, will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the release of ABBA...

Renowned wine expert Susy Atkins is joining forces with Honiton’s Deer Park Hotel to lead a taste tour of South America – and all to support local charity Hospiscare’s plans to build a new East Devon Day Hospice.

The South West Coast Path is inviting businesses to partner with the charity during 2014 to deliver some vital path improvements and protect this great tourism asset.

Everys Solicitors has broadened its sponsorship of Exmouth charities and causes with the backing of the town’s award-winning youth theatre company, Centre Stage.

Established in 1971 Centre Stage has a membership of 60 young people aged between 11 and 21 who perform in every production the company produces. Centre Stage is currently preparing for the musical Whistle Down the Wind.

Keats urgently needs your help

Please please can someone help Keats? We have 3 weeks to decide on his future.

Keats was originally brought to us last October. He has lived outside all his life and was being fed by an elderly lady. As he as aged and his eyesight decreased, he has increasingly pushed to come inside and enjoy some home comforts. Unfortunately the lady could not allow this, so Keats has found himself here. Due to his age he has limited eye sight, but otherwise he is in good health.

Men sentenced for misleading consumers

Two men, Neil Mendoza of Exeter and Michael Girvin of Exmouth, have received suspended imprisonment sentences and community service, for their part in a scam to mislead time share owners.

Sentenced this week, Mendoza received nine months imprisonment suspended for two years, with 200 hours community service, and Girvin received 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years with 200 hours community service. Girvin also received disqualification as a company director.

NFU: Flood plans sacrificed farmland

The Government must review its flooding and coastal defence policies and commit more money to reducing further risks to the British countryside, the NFU said today. The call comes as part of the NFU’s new flooding manifesto which was launched at this morning at the second day of the union’s annual conference in Birmingham.
