Remembrance Devon & The Great War

This illustrated talk by historician Dr Todd Gray outlines the service and sacrifice of the men and women of Exeter in the Great War.

It will also show how the people Exeter commemorated the city's role through a wide variety of monuments and memorials, many of which remain part of the landscape of the city.

The venue is the Officers' Mess at Exeter University Officer Training Corps, at Wyvern Barracks.

RAMM’s Fine Art collection includes Hartland Quay by the artist Alan Cotton. It is an excellent example of his use of the flat part of the knife to give broad sweeps of colour while the sharp edge adds precise lines. Create your own landscape using paint and pieces of neoprene to produce an interesting effect.

Parents are expected to stay with their children while they participate and must remain with them if they are under 8 years of age. Some activities are messy so please wear clothes that can get dirty. Aprons will be provided.

Exploring the Vertues of Herbes

Learn more about the power of plants. It is the year 1602; meet, observe and help our ‘herb women’ preparing natural remedies in the Tudor Kitchen at St Nicholas Priory using a variety of plants gathered from their own physick garden and from the wild places of the former Polsloe Priory.

They will be preparing infusions, tisanes, poultices and healing salves for the benefit and wellbeing of the Hurst-Clifton household.

An Arts Award event.
