Badger Vaccinating with Going Wildwards

Ambios and Going Wildwards invite you to join them at Lower Sharpham Farm to participate in their vaccination trials.

They’ll be putting out humane traps in strategic places to catch a members of the local badger population, to vaccinate and release, providing an effective and significant alternative to culling, in order to reduce levels of Bovine TB.

This will be a great opportunity to take part in a scheme of national importance. We will provide transport if needed to the estate.

Join us to try your hand at using equipment to look at different species close up in the ponds of Taddiforde and Hoopern valleys, making sure not to disturb the local ‘residents’, and seeing what it takes to live in a watery environment!

Golf & Country Club Director's Cup

Saturday 3 May saw 90 competitors battle in the annual 36 hole marathon of the Directors Cup, a Devon County Golf Union Order of Merit event.

The weather was kind with very little wind and mainly sunshine which allowed for some good scoring, even though the course was playing very long.

With the first match off at 6.45am, the pace was set early with Sam Dunn (Teignmouth) returning a 2 over par 71, to lead the morning scorers for a while until Ryan Wheeler (Stover) returned a level par 69 and Adam Bridgewater (Tavistock) opened up with a one over 70.

East Devon blooms at the Chelsea Flower Show

For the second year running, plants from Otter Nurseries will be entrancing visitors to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

The East Devon plant specialist is supplying all the flowers for the crowd-stopping Robert James trade display garden.

The garden, sited just outside the main flower marquee, is being created around a stunning collection of bronze sculptures and water features based on quintessentially English literary characters.

Dormouse Monitoring with Going Wildwards

Ever wondered where the small things go? From May to September, Going Wildwards will be working with Ambios to monitor the population of dormice on the University of Exeter's Streatham campus.

We will be putting tubes up in Taddiforde and Hoopern, and checking them over the year, so it’s a great opportunity if you’d like to try your hand at surveying techniques and learn about ecological consultancy.
